Justice between generations: A defense of Ralws

The problem of intergenerational justice is a subject that concerns many areas such as philosophy, politics, economics, health, environment, economics and law. This issue is examined through various topics such as obligations to future generations, human rights, population policies, resource use, savings and measures, environment, climate, morality. However, studies on this subject are not sufficient yet, especially in the national literature. This thesis examines the issue of intergenerational justice as a philosophical problem and examines issues such as environment, climate, rights and savings. In this context, firstly, the concept of intergenerational justice, the pros and cons developed on this issue will be examined. Then, the issue of intergenerational justice is examined from the perspective of utilitarianism, a common philosophical and political view from the nineteenth century onwards. Although utilitarian moral philosophers do not mention the problem of direct justice between generations , many commentators argue that utilitarianism represents the most radical view on this issue. One of the aims of this thesis is to reveal more accurately the philosophical foundations of utilitarianism's view of intergenerational justice. One of my philosophical foundations in this thesis, John Rawls, one of the leading thinkers of twentieth-century political philosophy, deals with the issue of intergenerational justice within the framework of justice theory. In the last part of the thesis, the issue of intergenerational justice is examined on concrete issues in the context of environment, climate and sustainable population. One of the views I've tried to ground throughout the thesis is that we have responsibilities to future generations about intergenerational justice. Because there will be choices and policies to be made by the present generations, which will largely determine the existence and living standards of future generations.
