Examples of precaution in the section on acts of worship within the context of al-Nawawī's Minhāj

The concept of "precaution" in Islamic law refers to measures taken to prevent harm in previously unknown or uncertain situations. This concept is generally used to protect the basic values of Muslims such as life, property and mental health.The precautionary principle states that all necessary precautions must be taken to prevent potential harm from occurring. Therefore, in Islamic law, prudence is mainly used as a precaution and is very important for the safety and wellbeing of individuals. Precaution in Islamic law has also been discussed by fiqh scholars such as Nawawi. Nawawi emphasizes that precaution is a preventive and protective measure against harm. According to him, it is used when the verdict of an event or action is not known precisely. Nawawi states that the concept of precaution is valid not only in individual life but also in social life. It states that a society should act with caution to prevent harmful activities. The number of studies on precaution in Islamic Law is limited. The aim of this study is to reveal Nawawi's point of view on precaution and how he deals with this concept, together with examples.
