Abstract (EN)

In this study, ELMERİ® occupational health and safety (OHS) observation method was used to determine the risk factors that may arise for OHS and to determine the measures to be taken in five different pumice production plants in Nevşehir region. The existing form, which was originally used in the manufacturing sector, was adapted to the pumice production factories and a new observation form was created by taking into account a number of changes in expression areas and activities. Periodical visits were made to each enterprise for observation purposes. The forms prepared during these visits were used and each enterprise was visited twice. Deficiencies identified in the enterprises in terms of OHS were transferred to the company authorities. The measures to be taken were notified to the operating authorities and the aim was to minimize the risk factors. As a result of these practices, pumice factories produced data on the general conditions they have in terms of OHS. The obtained ELMERİ® observation scores were compared with the different operating variables of the factories. Possible relationships between these variables were examined. Significant correlations were found between the number of workers and daily production amount and ELMERİ® scores. There was no linear relationship between activity year variable and ELMERİ® scores.
