Abstract (EN)

In this study, Ni, NiFe and Pt were electrochemically deposited on a large surface area carbon felt for different periods of time, and hydrogen gas production in a basic medium was investigated. The prepared electrodes were characterized by using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), linear scanning voltammetry (LSV), potentiodynamic polarization, cyclic voltammetry (CV), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction methods. In addition, hydrogen gas volume was measured by applying the electrolysis process to the electrodes prepared in 1.0 M KOH. It was observed that the most effective Ni deposition time on carbon felt was 20 minutes. In order to increase the catalytic effect of the C felt electrode (C#Ni20) coated with Ni for 20 minutes, Ni and Fe were precipitated together at different times. The effective precipitation time for Ni and Fe co-deposition on C#Ni20 was determined as 10 minutes. Finally, a small amount of Pt metal was deposited on the C#Ni20NiFe10 electrode. The electrode with the highest catalytic effect on hydrogen production was the C#Ni20NiFe10@Pt45 electrode with 45 s Pt precipitation
