Abstract (EN)
The number of studies conducted research on the development of materials with elevated high temperature performance and enhancing their application areas is progressively increasing. These studies focuses on, in particular, extending the service life, obtaining lower density materials, high corrosion resistance, high static and dynamic strength, and focuses on wear resistant high surface hardness and economical production methods. Research and development work for targeted materials is rather accelerating towards the production of material composite and intermetallic materials known as high-tech materials. In this study, in addition to Ni based aluminide, NiAl (B2) and NiAl based composites reinforced with TiC or TiB2 was produced and characterized by various analytical techniques. Elemental Ni and Al powders are mixed with TiC and TiB2 powders are compacted and subsequently melted by the arc melting. TiC and TiB2 rates of 0.5 wt%, 1, 2, 4 and 8% and the balance is Ni and Al powders. The samples were obtained in the form of bar with a vacuum casting is prepared metallographic examination by slicing in different thicknesses. In order to characterize the specimens produced, the types of phases, microstructure and their hardness were investigated by XRD X-ray diffraction method, Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), optical microscope (OM) and microhardness measurement techniques. Studies showed that all samples consisting of single-phase matrix and the TiC / TiB2 particles remain in most cases insoluble in the structure. Hardness values vary according to the amount of increasing second phase particles. Although both additions create similar results in hardness, the microstructure of TiC reinforced samples resulted in the second phase structure with a spherical shape while TiB2 reinforced samples resulted in rod-like structure. In specimens with heat treatment applied was there a dramatic change in microstructural and physical properties.
