Abstract (EN)
Many chemicals used today are known to have endocrine disrupting effects. Endocrine disruptors show many toxic effects in living organisms by interfering with the endocrine system. Alkylphenols ethoxylates (AFEs) are the first ones that come to mind as endocrine disrupting chemicals. Nonylphenol (NF), which is released as a result of the degradation of AFEs, is widely used industrially in surfactants, detergents, paints, personal care products and cosmetics. Nonylphenol is widely used in wastewater and sewage. For this reason, living exposure is inevitable. Living organisms are exposed to nonylphenol by consuming contaminated food, contact with water and inhalation. As a result of this exposure, toxic effects are observed in kidney and other tissues of living organisms. In this study, the effect of nonylphenol on kidney development was investigated. Gene expression levels of TRPV5 and TRPV6 genes, which are calcium channels, were examined in the kidney tissues of rats exposed to nonylphenol from the previous study in our laboratory. While TRPV5 gene expression decreased significantly compared to the control group (p<0.05), TRPV5 gene expression increased compared to the solvent control, but this increase was not significant. Similar results were observed for TRPV6. TRPV6 gene expression decreased compared to the control group but not significantly. TRPV6 gene expression increased compared to solvent control, but this increase was again not significant (p<0.05).
