The evaluation of endothelial disfunction by serum omentin?1 and flow mediated dilatation in normotensive obese population

Abstract (EN)

It has been well demonstrated that there is an increase risk of obesity and obesity related cardivascular morbidity and mortality in worldwide and Turkey as well.In our study we aimed to evaluate the relationship betwen endothelial disfunction determined by flow mediated dilatation method, serum omentin?1 levels and other metabolic and antropometric parameters. 50 obese patients, age and sex matched 45 healty controls were included in this study. Hypertension diagnosis was excluded by screening 24 ambulatory blood pressure monitorization. 75 gr oral glucose tolerance test was performed for to evaluation of glucose metabolism. Also at 0 min of the procedure, blood samples were obtained for omentin 1 levels and flow mediated dilatation test performed. Segmenter body analysis and Viscan monitorization were performed for to determine the body composition.Omentin?1 levels were found significantly lower in obese population compared to the control subjects. Also, FMD response was significantly decreased in obese population. There was a significant positive correlation between FMD response and omentin?1 levels. Negative association was found between serum omentin?1 levels and body mass index, waist circumference, total fat percentage, visceral fat and total abdominal fat percentage of Viscan, insülin and HOMA score. There was a positive correlation between the anthropometric measurements of segmental body analysis and Viscan tests. Multiple lineer regression analysis showed that fat mass increment was an independent predictor for FMD response in obese populationIn conclusion, omentin?1 levels and FMD response were decreased in obese patients. Decrease of omentin?1 levels was significantly correlated with endothelium dependent vascular dilatation. Fatt mass increase is an independent risk factor for impaired endothelium dependent dilatation response in obese population.
