Abstract (EN)
Numerous studies have been conducted on the effects of faith and religious practices on individuals. In recent years, these studies have extended beyond the theological domain and have been carried out by various scientific disciplines. One of these disciplines is Neurotheology. Neurotheology emerges as a subfield that utilizes scientific developments to understand religious experiences, drawing on both neurological and theological data. The studies in neurotheology fundamentally start from the hypothesis that certain regions of the brain are directly responsible for the experience of God or for religious and spiritual experiences, and they generally examine whether there is a relationship between belief and the brain. At this point, our doctoral research aimed at investigating the effect of Quran recitation on CREB and cortisol responses in the brain is significant from a neurotheological perspective.
