Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, the roles of law enforcement in the security of nuclear power plants are comprehensively discussed. For this purpose, international security measures are mentioned, possible risks and threats are discussed, and the activities carried out are explained in detail. Threats such as nuclear terrorism, illegal trade and sabotage are examined, and the activities carried out in this regard are explained. According to the comprehensive review, the responsibilities of law enforcement are not limited to the public order of the region, but also include critical areas such as the protection of nuclear power plants and the prevention of illegal activities. It is observed that Turkey's nuclear energy adventure began many years ago, legal regulations are established, training activities and international collaborations have been carried out. In order to increase the effectiveness of law enforcement, legal regulations should be constantly updated according to current risks and threats. Technical capacity should be improved according to new developing technologies. Moreover, it was evaluated that it is important to strengthen coordination between institutions and increase public awareness.
