The concept of will on Nurettin Topçu

This essay aims to analyze the concept of will on Nurettin Topçu. Nurettin Topçu is the most important figure of thought, spirit and heart that our nation has brought up in the XX. century. He studied philosophy in France and also is a moralist who had a systematic thought. Nurettin Topçu got acquainted with and was affected by western thinkers like Blondel, Bergson and Massignon when he was in Europe. He pioneered `action? philosophy in our country and founded the Action School. And olso he put forward his own moral philosophy called Ethics of Rebellion starting from the Philosophy of Action of Blondel.To our thinker, ethics of rebellion is the rebellion of God towords man, it is a surrendening to the free thought and love. According to him ethics of rebellion is the matter of will, the true and complete will is the will which starts from the individual, accepts families and authorities and conveys to God after passing through the nation and humanity stages.In this study, we tried to analyze the concept of will on Nurettin Topçu, the aspect of will of Nurettin Topçu, the function, aim and the importance of the will in his thought system. In this process, we tried to describe the comprehensive biography of him to determine his world of ideas and the dynamics of its source.Then we consider the findings of the philosophers who put forward the opinions about will in the history of idea and the concept of will in general.Finally, we tried to put forward how Nurettin Topçu defines the concept of will, the goal and the function of will in the steps of the nation, state and art.Key Words: Will, Action, Revolt, Freedom, Responsibility, Ethics of Rebellion.
