The historical background of the commentary written according to the order of nuzul

In our study, the historical background of the tafsirs written on the basis of the order of the Qur'an is discussed. The historical background, which was influential in the writing of these commentaries, was investigated in the personal backgrounds of modernism, orientalism, tajdid movements and commentators. The emergence of Chronological tafsir has been emphasized as a reflection of the changes in the interpretation of the Qur'an, Prophet and religion of Muslims, who were influenced by modern thought. The thought that the current mushaf arrangement made it difficult to understand with the influence of orientalism was one of the reasons why commentators used this method. The idea that the prophetic method can be found in the chronology and that Muslims will find guidance and return to their former power by this means has formed the basic starting point of the commentators in question.
