Abstract (EN)
This study was conducted as a descriptive and correlational study to evaluate the relationship between maternal and neonatal outcomes and the quality of postpartum recovery in obese women according to parity. The universe of the study consisted of pregnant women with a body mass index higher than 30.0 kg/m2 who came to Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University Training and Research Hospital, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology for delivery. The sample was calculated using the G Power 3.1 computer program. The sample consisted of a total of 168 women, 64 primiparous and 64 multiparous. The data of the study were collected between 01.04.2024 and 31.07.2024. The data were obtained using the Personal Information Form, Maternal-Neonatal Information Form, and the Quality of Postpartum Recovery Scale (QPRS). After the pregnant women were admitted to the delivery room, their height and body weight were measured, and then their body mass index was calculated and they were included in the sample. In the evaluation of the data; Descriptive statistics, one-way and two-way analysis of variance, independent sample t test, Mann Whitney U test and Binary logistic regression analysis were used. In the comparison of the birth characteristics of primiparous and multiparous pregnant women, it was determined that there was a significant difference between the groups in terms of the way the birth was concluded, whether induction was applied during labor, the 3rd, 5th and 6th hour oxygen saturation averages of labor, and the 2nd and 6th hour body temperature averages of labor (p<0.05). When the current BMI average of the pregnant women was evaluated, it was 34.13±3.68 in primiparous and 34.56±3.03 in multiparous. The mean QPRS score was 56.72±19.07 in primiparous and 55.84±19.77 in multiparous, and it was determined that there was no significant difference between the groups. In the multi-dimensional comparison of the parity status and the total QPRS with variables, it was determined that there was a significant difference between the variables of age, education status, employment status, place of residence, family type, current BMI, pre-pregnancy BMI and neonatal intensive care and oxygen requirement (p<0.05). As a result; The quality of postpartum recovery in primiparous women with maternal obesity is higher than in multiparous women.
