Özet (EN)

Objective: to investigate the relationship between respiratory function and physical activity levels, and quality of life values of obese and pre-obese individuals. Method: 62 subjects were included (Body mass index (BMI) based; 33 pre-obese, 29 obese). Demographic and clinical data of the individuals were recorded. The modified Medical Research Council (mMRC) scale was used to assess dyspnea. Pulmonary function tests (PFT); by spirometry, Short-Form-36 quality of life questionnaire (SF-36 QoL) and obesity-specific QoL scale to assess quality of life, international scale of physical activity (IPAQ) to assess physical activity level. Results: Obese individuals based on pre-obese individuals perceived dyspnea was significantly higher (p <0.05). When compared to pre-obese individuals, obese individuals FVC, FEV1, PEF, FEF25-75, FEF25-75%, MVV, MVV % in value significantly (p <0.05) was measured by a decrease in all PFT parameters. Physical activity levels the two groups were found to be greater in obese inactive (p <0.05). When the group of health-related quality of life are examined; According to the SF-36 quality of life compared to the subgroup of obese individuals found a significant difference in two groups (p<0.05). In addition, obesity-specific QoL scores were significantly lower in obese subjects (p <0.05). BMI; dyspnea in pre-obese subjects (r = 0.37, p <0.05), and PFT parameters (p> 0.05) and was associated, while in obese individuals and inspiration function values associated with FEV1 (r = -0.51, p <0.05) and PEF (r = -0.53, p <0.05) were found to be significantly associated. Conclusion: Increasing BMI in pre-obese individuals, although affect pulmonary functions of the individual; increasing BMI in obese individuals decreased of pulmonary functions, and decreased significantly physical activity level and quality of life.
