Abstract (EN)

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is the fourth most common mental disorder among mental health and illnesses due to the its clinical manifestations. Due to the the heterogenity of the disorder, the researches recently focus mostly on determining the sub-dimentions and the intensity of the sub-dimentions in OCD. Today one of the fields that most works on OCD is mindfulness-based approaches. The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between the intensity of symptom dimentions and mindfulness levels in patients diagnosed with OCD. 93 patients diagnosed with OCD in Psychiatric Outpatient Clinic in the Faculty of Medicine at Çukurova University were included in the study. Respectively, Sociodemographic Data Form, Yale-Brown Obsession Compulsion Scale, Dimensional Obsession Compulsion Scale, and The Mindful Attention Awareness Scale were applied to the patients. According to the results of the study, a moderate negative relationship was found between the levels of the intensity of obsession compulsion symptoms in the sub-dimention of Responsibility and mindfulness in OCD. However, it was found that there was no relationship between the intensity of other symptom dimentions and mindfulness levels in OCD. In addition, it was found that obsession compulsion symptoms of OCD patients with 3 or more children were higher than patients with 2 children. Obsession compulsion symptoms of patients with a psychiatric diagnosis in any family members were found to be significantly higher compared to patients without a psychiatric diagnosis in any family member. As a conclusion, the results were thought to be significant for supportive interventions, called as the third wave CBT, in the treatment of OCD.
