Comparison of foot structure of children with obstetric brachial plexus to healthy children

The aim of this study is to evaluate the presence of foot deformity due to body asymmetry of children with obstetric brachial plexus paralysis (OBPP) and to compare the results with healthy subjects of the same age and gender. The study included children with obstetric brachial plexus palsy (OBPP) who can walk independently, aged 4-18 years, and healthy children of the same age group. The groups were evaluated as a total of 26 people, of which 13 were each. The foot analysis of the individuals was done with a device called podoscope. Demographic information such as gender, age, weight, height, birth weight of each individual was recorded. In evaluation, normal range of motion measurement, active motion scale, scoliosis for scoliosis, posture analysis, upper extremity anthropometric measurement, lower extremity anthropometric measurement, Navicular Drop Test for foot medial longitudinal arc, Calcaneotibial angle measurement for subtalar angle measurement, foot plantar pressure measurement podoscope device was used. As a result of statistical analysis, when podoscope measurements of the right and left feet of the study and control groups were evaluated, no significant difference was found (p> 0.05). When foot podoscope measurements of the affected and unaffected side of children with OBPP were compared, no significant difference was found (p> 0.05). A significant difference was found between the length measurements of the upper extremities of the affected and unaffected side of individuals with OBPP (p <0.05). When the measurements made with scoliometer of each group were compared, a significant difference was found (p <0.05). When calcaneotibial angle measurement and navicular droptest results of each group were compared, no significant difference was found (p> 0.05). As a result; Some results were determined by comparing the foot structure of children with OBPP and healthy children.
