Abstract (EN)

The importance of OSAS is better understood day by day. It is a sendrom that results in lotsof problems of cardiovascular and neurocognitive systems. The prevalance of OSASchanges by age and gender but it is estimated to be between 1-5 % in the whole population. For preventive medicine it is one of the most important issues to make early diagnosis of thissyndrome to overcome any possible complications. The gold standart diagnosis modality of OSAS is to make polisomnography in the sleeplabarotory. However, there are lots of reasons requiring a need of alternative diagnosismodality in stead of poysomnography for OSAS diagnosis such as, inadeqate sleeplabarotory numbers, cost, the need of educated personel. So we have made a study toevaluate the reliability and efficiency of Watch PAT® which is one of the ambulatoryinstruments that is included in the third category of ASDA and recommended in the literaturepreviously. In our study we have performed sleep test to 30 patients with the pre-diagnosis ofOSAS with polysomnography and Watch PAT® instruments simultaneously. After analysingthe results we have determined that the results of Watch PAT® was compatible withpolysomnography. Finally we have came up with the judgement that Watch PAT® instrumentwhich is included in the third category of ASDA for OSAS diagnosis could be utilized as analternative diagnosis modality in stead of polysomnografy.
