Abstract (EN)

This thesis consist of four sections that first section is introduction, second section is conference halls, third section is determination of the physical limits of the halls and their acoustic defects, fourth section is conceptual description of acoustic assessment methods in conference halls and conclusion section is a presentation of acoustic design chart that will guide architects who will work on auditorium acoustics. In this thesis, background information provided to the ones interested in design of places that are aurally important, performance criteria that should be used for evaluation of a conference hall's volume acoustic and noise regulation determined, and acoustic comfort conditions of an existing and/or newly build hall have been evaluated. In general, historical development of conference halls, their architectural features related to function and operation, reverberation time that required for a good hearing, background noise, acoustic errors present in volume acoustic and their causes, and building components such as wall, floor, ceiling, doors and windows have been evaluated within building acoustics design parameters. In this study, a solution will be provided to reach required reverberation time by finding existing reverberation time, determining if it is appropriate for national and international standards of conference halls and providing solutions for building components if it is not appropriate
