Gender based analysis of labor market indicators in OECD countries

The research aims to measure the effect of gender discrimination on labor market indicators. The sample subject to the study consists of 35 countries.. In the study, labor market sub-indicators, one of the Better Life Index indicators, were determined as variables between 2013-2018. As labor market indicators, labor market insecurity, employment rate, long-term unemployment rate, work-related earnings and job security are discussed. In the analysis, data sets were created in two groups, women and men, by considering OECD countries. The relevant data set was obtained from the OECD database. To test the statistical difference between the labor market indicators by gender, the Mann-Whitney U test and independent two sample-t test were applied. Analyzes were made with the SPSS 21 package program. When the results of the research are examined, it is seen that the employment rate and work-related earnings of men are higher than the employment rate and work-related earnings of women for the years 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017. Results showed that there is no difference between genders in the variables of labor market insecurity, long-term unemployment rate and job security, which are other indicators.
