Investigation of the opinions regarding the problems experienced in the refund process of the individuals who benefit from the education loan

In this study, it is aimed to evaluate the problems about repayment experienced by university graduates who have benefited from the education loan that has been given since 1962 in our country. Throughout their higher education life, a lot of individuals prefer to benefit from scholarships or education loans in order to afford their educational costs like accommodation, tuition fees, stationery, nutrition and socialization needs. Many individuals who have taken advantage of education loans, have had difficulty repaying or are already paying, have many problems about paying their debts. In the study, the scanning model, which is one of the qualitative research methods, was preferred to evaluate the problems experienced in the repayment of education loans. In order to determine the existing problems, the interview technique, which is one of the qualitative data collection techniques, was used in the research. Interviews were conducted with university graduates who benefited from the education loan and had difficulty in repayment, forming the study group of the research, through a semi-structured interview form. A total of 240 minutes of interviews were held with a total of 11 participants. These interviews were recorded with a voice recorder and the recordings were analyzed by the researcher and transcribed electronically. In the study; Significant findings were obtained about the participants' thoughts on repayment of education loans while benefiting from or after using them, their thoughts on repayment methods of education loans, the problems experienced in repayment of education loans, the different methods used in repayment of education loans, the effect of benefiting from education loans and repayments on individuals. According to the research findings, it was concluded that the biggest problem experienced by the participants in repaying their education loans is the unemployment problem. However, it was concluded that the participants who could not pay their debts worked as cheap labor and therefore had problems with repayment, their salaries or their properties were confiscated, the payment time was missed because there was no repayment order, the debt burden increased with the interest rate, and the existing personal savings were spent to pay debts.
