Views of teacher candidates on child rights

The general purpose of this research is put forward the views of theacher candidates of education faculty on child rights. The environment of the research consists of 9813 students including the ones attending to education faculties in Turkey, Department of Primary Education and Department of Turkish Language Teaching students from 3 rd and 4 th grades. The study group of the research consists of AKU?s Faculty of Education students from Department of Primary Education and Department of Turkish Language Teaching who attends to 3 rd and 4 th grades and consisting 5 % of the environment.During the process of data collection, the related literature were scanned concerning with the attendance of teacher candidates, the realated terms were rewiewed and these we transformed into questions and survey items were formed. While forming the survey items learned opinions were applied. The data collected were analysed statistically by using a computer program and the data were worked out. In accordance with the aims of the research, the participant candidate teachers? frequency and percentage calculations were made in order to depict their personal information and views. In the averages of children rights groups, t test were applied to the biveriant ones, variance analysis to the multivariant ones and Scheffe test were applied to find out which varients were find to be meaningful. Since no Scheffe test difference were found in a chart, Tukey multi comparison test were applied. According the results of this research; it was found that the great majority of teacher candidates hadn?t read the contract of child rights. The teacher candidates had believed the most important right was ?right to life? and they hadn?t mentioned the ?right to participation? as an important child right.Key Words: Child, right, child right, teacher candidate.
