The purpose of this research is to determine -according to candidate teachers? opinions- to what extent media literacy levels of the candidate teachers is explained by variables such as gender, age, department, teaching type, graduated high school, type of department graduated at high school, opportunity of computer usage, opportunity of internet usage, reading a journal continuously or not, frequency of TV usage, aims of TV usage, frequency and aims of internet usage.As a workgroup, 560 candidate teachers were chosen from Primary School Teacher Education Department, Turkish Teacher Education Department and Social Studies Teacher Education Department at Uşak University, Faculty of Education.In the research ?Media Literacy Level Determination Scale? has been improved and used by the researcher to determine media literacy level.Frequency, percent, mean, standard deviation, factor analysis, correlation, t-test and anova test were used to analyze data. In this research, it has been determined that the variables such as type of department graduated at high school, having a computer, having internet connection, reading journals, frequency of watching TV and using internet have effect on media literacy level.Gender, age, department, type of education and type of graduated high school of candidate teachers were not seen to be contributing much to the variety of media literacy levels.Key words: Media Literacy, Media, Mass Communication, Literacy
