Examining the web 2.0 competencies of teacher candidates

This study aims to determine the extent to which prospective teachers use Web 2.0 tools. Within the scope of the research, the relationships between prospective teachers' awareness, usage competence, self-efficacy beliefs, and attitudes towards Web 2.0 tools have been revealed in detail. The sample of this research consists of prospective teachers studying at Bartın University Faculty of Education in the 2023-2024 academic year. The data were collected face-to-face, and 600 prospective teachers constituted the participant group of the research. As a result of the first stage of the review, the data of 431 prospective teachers who met the selection criteria determined by the researcher were included in the research. Personal information form, WEB 2.0 Rapid Content Development Scale for Determining Self-efficacy Beliefs, Attitude Scale Towards Web 2.0 Tools, Awareness Scale Towards Web 2.0 Tools, Web 2.0 Tools Usage Competence Scale were used as data collection tools in the research. The scales were applied to the participants face-to-face. IBM SPSS 23 program was used in the analysis of the data. According to the results of the research, positive statistically significant relationships were determined between the usage competence scale, awareness scale, attitude scale and self-efficacy scale and their sub-dimension scores. This finding shows that awareness, usage competence, self-efficacy beliefs and attitudes towards Web 2.0 tools are compatible with each other and high scores of one can be associated with high scores of the others. In particular, it was determined that individuals with high usage competence also have high levels of awareness, attitude and self-efficacy. These relationships are similarly positive statistically significant in the sub-dimensions of the relevant scales. Keywords: Awareness, teacher candidates, self-efficacy, attitude, web 2.0.
