Investigation of pre-service teacher's lifelong learning and communication satisfaction levels

The current research aims to investigate the relationship between lifelong learning and student communication satisfaction levels of pre-service teachers according to the gender and class level variables. The study group consists of pre-service teachers who are studying at Sakarya University Education Faculty. 391 females and 117 males, totally 508 pre-service teachers participated the study. Lifelong learning and student communication satisfaction levels were analyzed according to different variables. In the analysis period, Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Shapiro-Wilk test of normality were done to see wheather the variables are normal or not. According to the results, parametric analysis such as One-way ANOVA, Spearman correlation level of significance and Mann-Whitney U analysis were done using SPSS 17.0 package program. Lifelong Learning Scale (WielkLLS), which was developed by Wielkiewicz and Meuwissen (2014) and adapted to Turkish culture by Demirtaş and Boztepe (2016), was used as an instrument to test the lifelong learning levels of the attendant students. The attendant students' communication satisfaction levels were tested using student communication satisfaction scale which was developed by Goodboy, Martin and Bolkan (2009) and adapted to Turkish culture by Boztepe (2016). Both of the instruments are uni-dimensional. There is a significant relationship between lifelong learning and communication satisfaction. There is a positive and poor relationship between them. As a consequence of the research, lifelong learning and communication satisfaction scores were examined according to different variables. According to the results, for the gender variable there was not found significant difference. The scores of males and females are similiar to each other and there are significant differences according to the class level variable. The results are discussed within the content of the literature.
