Study of school adaptation among 60-66 months children compared to teachers' perception

Societies' progress can be supplied with education. Basically, schools are practicing field of education. From this standpoint, education is a tool for societies' development. And students are stable input of this significant means. Schools act operating role as preparing students for life. As an input of formative system for our future, students' adaptation to school is extremely important . this research's findings are expected to make new contributions to education management. Total field under survey consists of 1. and 2. grade teachers who works in 2014-2015 academic year in Istanbul-Fatih. 112 teachers participated to this survey. In this research, it is aimed to identify whether teachers' opinions about 60-66 months children's adaptation to school, show statically expressive difference according to teachers' gender, education level, seniority, age, class size, students' age range, type of institution. Data collecting tool, installed to collect data in accordance with research objectives consists of two parts . Researcher has prepared Teacher Personal Information Form by intension of gathering data about teachers' demographic features and the form includes 7 questions. 22 measurer questions concerning teachers' findings about students' adaptation to school appear in survey that was designed in direction of experts and academicians vision. Within this context, in order to identify whether sample group teachers' scores obtained from School Adaptation Perception Determination Survey become different according to teachers' gender, students' age range and type of institution Independent Group T Test; to determine whether the scores show difference in accordance with teachers' education level, seniority, age and class size, Kruskal Wallis-H Test and to determine whether there is expressive difference between these groups, Mann Whitney-U Test have been implemented. In consequence of this research, it is estimated that teachers approves the expressions in School Adaptation Perception Determination Survey at "Partially Agree" level, they shows agreement on expression that students who have preschool education have accommodated themselves to school compared to other children among 60-66 months students at "Fully Agree" level, and at " Few Agree" level they come to agreement on expression that 60-66 months students' attendance to preschool education at least one year before primary school has no influence on primary school education. Teachers' perceptions about students' adaptation to school become different according to teachers' gender, class size while it is not changing according to their education level, seniority, age, students' age range and type of institution, When it is examined with respect to expressions in survey, teachers' perceptions about students' adaptation to school becomes different according to gender, education level, seniority, age, class size, students' age range, type of institution.
