Standardization of teacher education and state of readiness the faculties of education for accreditation process

In this study, standardization of teacher education and the state of readiness the faculties of educatıon for accreditation process are examined based on the views of instructors. In the scope of the research, in addition to the theoretical knowledge, 20 lecturers working in four different universities (Erciyes University, Ömer Halis Demir University, Kırşehir Ahi Evran University, Kırıkkale University) have been interviewed. In the study,"interview technique and document analysis" from qualitative research methods were used. The study group of the study was determined by using purposeful sampling in order to increase easy accessibility and reliability. In the interviews which lasted 20-30 minutes, a semi-structured interview form consisting of 15 questions was applied to the instructors. The data obtained as a result of the interview were analyzed by content analysis and the opinions expressed by the experts were classified in terms of meaning and digitized.This study differs from similar studies in the literature in terms of both the methods used and the results. Within the scope of the study, the concept of standardization in teacher education and the institutional explanations regarding the accreditation of the faculties of education and the relationship between standardization and accreditation were explained, and the status of the teaching staff working in the faculties of education was revealed. The results reveals that there must be a certain level of standardization in teacher education. The instructors of the faculties of education ensue that accreditation is necessary for faculties of education and accreditation is a quality indicator. On the other hand,the lecturers refered some difficulties and disabilities in terms of infrastructure for accreditation. According to another result, it was found out that the instructors are interested in accreditation studies and they believe that accreditation is important in terms of raising qualified teachers.
