Abstract (EN)
In this thesis it was aimed to examine the relation between the level of teachers' organizational commitment and headmasters' democratic attitudes according to class teachers' view who work in Erzincan city centre. Population of the study consisted of class teachers who worked in state schools affiliated to Ministry of Education in 2013-2014 academic year in Erzincan city centre. Study group consisted of total 357 class teachers working in 34 elementary schools who were randomly selected among 59 primary schools affiliated to Ministry of Education according to their socio-economic levels. In the thesis, data were obtained using democratic attitude scale and organizational commitment scale. This study is a relational screening model. In the thesis, one dependent and one independent variable total two variables were used. Democratic attitude variable was considered as independent and organizational commitment variable were taken as dependent variable. SPSS program was used for data analysis. Survey responds of the study group were digitized and frequency, percentage, average and standard deviation values were found. Also t test was used to determine whether there is a significant difference between the variable points and one way variance analysis (One Way ANOVA) was also used to analyze them. Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Analysis was applied to detect the relation between the points obtained from democratic attitude scale and organizational commitment scale. Multiple Linear Regression Analysis was also used to determine the predictive level of the points obtained from democratic attitude scale for the points obtained from organizational commitment scale. Findings of the thesis were summarized as shown below. 1. According to the results of the study teachers and headmasters generally had a democratic attitude in the management process. 2. Teachers' level of organizational commitment was high. 3. It was found that, there was a negatively significant relation between participation dimension- a sub-dimension of democratic attitude- and adaptation dimension – a sub-dimension of organizational commitment. Also there was a positively significant relation between participation dimension and internalization, identification dimensions. 4. It was concluded that there was a negatively significant relation between adaptation dimension –a sub-dimension of organizational commitment- and freedom dimension – a sub-dimension of democratic attitude- and there was a positively significant relation between identification, internalization and autonomy. 5. It was found that there was a negatively significant relation between adaptation dimension of organizational commitment and autonomy dimension of democratic attitude, there was also a positively significant relation between identification and internalization dimensions 6. It was also found that participation dimension, one of the sub-dimensions of democratic attitude, was a significant predictor on the sub-dimension of organizational commitment, also freedom and autonomy dimensions were not significant predictors. 7. It was finally concluded that sub-dimensions participation, autonomy and freedom were significant predictor on the internalization and identification dimension, sub-dimensions of organizational commitment.
