Abstract (EN)
It is known that the work motivation of employees in the occupations where human relations predominate, erode considerably over time. The teaching profession involves intense relations with school administrators, colleagues, parents and students. Teachers have a great responsibility to increase the expected success of the students in the central exams which have an important role in the transition to an elite higher level educational institution . The stress and disruptions brought about by these responsibilities cause teachers to lose their motivation. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of job motivation levels of the teachers working in secondary schools of the Ministry of National Education in Keçiören District of Ankara on the students' academical achievements. The universe of the research is 712 branch teachers of 44 state secondary schools in Keçiören province of Ankara who instructed 8th grade students in the academic year 2017-18 . The sample of the study consists of 219 teachers working in 16 state secondary schools. The data required for the research were obtained by using the "Multidimensional Business Motivation Scale" applied to teachers and the teacher information form, -which included the demographic information of the teachers- and the student year-end grades obtained from school administrations. Data was analyzed using statistical package program in order to determine whether there was any relation between the motivation and student academic achievement. In order to identify different groups based on age, work experience, workplace seniority and review subscales, variance analysis (ANOVA) was applied. Scales were evaluated based on gender and education level using t test analysis. Correlation analysis was applied to investigate the relationship between level of job motivation and academic achievement level. Sidak Bilateral comparison test was performed to identify deviant groups. The research revealed that teachers' work motivation levels didn't correspond significantly to level of education, work experience, or workplace seniority. Of the subdimensions of gender ,on the other hand, nonmotivation , intrinsic motivation external regulation-social dimension and inner mirroring were not affected while personal regulation and material regulation were. With the variant age, the scale doesn't differentiate based on nonmotivation, intrinsic motivation, personal regulation, external regulation and mirroring while it is affected by external regulation social subdimension. As we inspect teachers' motivation based on end of the year student grade averages we find significant correlation with external regulation social, external regulation, personal regulation and mirroring subdimensions while non motivation and intrinsic motivation dont correlate in a significant manner.
