Analyzing the relationship between teachers‟ communication skills and their morales

The aim of this study is to analyze the relationship between teachers‟ communication skills and morales of primary and secondary school students. This is a descriptive research in the relational survey model. The study group is 364 teachers who work in the primary and secondary schools in Kastamonu province in 2017-2018 Education-Training year. As a data collection instrument "Communivation skills Inventory" and "Teacher Morale Questionnaire" were used. The SPSS 21 package was used for data analysis. T test was done whether communication skills and morale levels differ according to gender and task, one-way ANOVA was done whether communication skills and morale levels differ according to age, occupational seniority and level of education. In order to determine the relationship between communication skills and morale in the research, Pearson Moment Correlation Coefficients were calculated and multiple regression analysis was performed to determine whether communication skills were significant predictors of morale. When research findings were evaluated, it was seen that the communication skills of teachers did not cause any differentiation according to the variables of gender, age, occupation, vocational seniority and education level. The moral perceptions of the teachers did not differ according to gender, age, education level and duty variables, but it was found that it caused the significant difference according to the occupational seniority variable. When research findings were evaluated, a significant positive correlation was found between communication skills and morale, and communication skills predicted morale significantly and predicted 17% of total variance in communication skills and the contribution of communication skills to morale is significant.
