Investigation of the relationship between teachers 'work engagement and school climate and teacher leadership

This research aims to explain the relationship of elementary school teachers' work engagement with their perception of the school climate and teacher leadership. In this perspective, this research examines the teachers' views about research variables (work engagement, school climate, and teacher leadership); whether their work engagement differs according to gender, duty, professional seniority or educational background; the relationship among work engagement, school climate, and teacher leadership; whether school climate and teacher leadership are significant predictors for work engagement. The research is designed in the relational screening model and tested a hypothesis model that shows the relationship between school climate and teacher leadership variables and work engagement. The research's workgroup consists of 267 elementary and pre-school teachers from Kastamonu, Sinop, Çankırı in 2017 and 2018. Utrecht work engagement scale, school climate scale, and teacher leadership scale are used in the research to collect data. The results showed that the teachers who joined the research have a high level of work engagement. According to the regression analysis, teacher leadership is a meaningful predictor for work engagement. School climate is a meaningful predictor for work engagement. Lastly, work engagement has no meaningful relationship with the demographic variables.
