Teachers' organizational citizenship behaviours and bureaucracy

Kemal KARAMANThe purpose of this study according to opinions of elementary school teacher?s was toexplore influence of bureacracy on organizational citizenship behaviours in elemantaryschool.The population of study was 1355 teachers in 64 elemantary schools in uşak and itsvillages that employ more than 5 teachers in 2005-2006 school year. Private schools andY.I.B.O and P.I.O were excluded from the analysis.The sample was composed of 538 teachers in 26 schools. The stratified sampling hasbeen used to determine the study?s sample.Determined number of teachers in all schools wererandomly selected. In study ?bureaucratization questionnaire? which developed by yücel(1999) and again ?organizational citizenship behaviours? which was developed by yücel havebeen used for measuring instruments.The number of questionnaries which returns as usablewere 430.Frequency , percent, mean standart deviation and corelation to define relationshipbetween bureaucracy and organizational citizenship , regretion to define at which meanbureacracy affects organizatioanal citizenship have been used to analyze of data .Forcomparing the teachers? opinions according to seniority,sexuality and branch ?annova and ttest? have been applied.It was found that bureaucracy influenced on organizational citizenship in the study.Alsobureaucracy effects whole dimension of the orgazinational citizenship behaviours ofschool.The normative management in schools effects school athmosphere negatively.Theincrease of using the hierarchical authority causes the relation to be more official.Key words : bureaucracy, organizational citizenship, education , elemantary schools.
