Determining teachers' psychological capital, organizational silence and organizational alienation levels (Sandikli district sample)

Abstract (EN)

This research was carried out in order to determine the psychological capital, organizational silence and organizational alienation levels of teachers, to examine the situation of these levels in terms of various variables and to reveal the relationship between the levels. The research is a quantitative, descriptive research and a survey method was used. The study population of the research consists of 514 teachers working in the district center of Afyonkarahisar, Sandıklı in the 2020-2021 academic year. Organizational Psychological Capital Scale, Organizational Silence Scale and Work Alienation Scale were used as data collection tools in the research. In the analysis of the data, item-total correlations were calculated on the data collected for each scale, and confirmatory factor analysis (DFA) and reliability analysis were applied to the data. Finally, appropriate statistical analysis were performed by looking at the normality of the data distributions. As a result of the research, according to the answers given by the teachers about the psychological capital levels, the highest average self-efficacy and the lowest average optimism dimension; According to the answers given about the organizational silence levels, the highest average organizational silence is in the dimension of opportunistic silence; According to the answers they gave about the organizational alienation levels, the highest average alienation from school and the lowest average meaninglessness dimension were determined. According to the variables of teachers' psychological capital, professional seniority, hobby and school type; organizational silence levels according to the variables of gender, hobbies and administrative duties spent outside of work; organizational alienation levels show a significant difference according to school type, educational status and administrative duty variables. In addition, there is a negative and significant relationship between teachers' psychological capital and organizational silence and organizational alienation levels; A positive and significant relationship was found between teachers' organizational silence levels and organizational alienation levels.
