Investigation of teachers' sport awareness levels

This study aimed to examine the sports awareness levels of teachers working in schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education in Tunceli province. It consists of 1020 teachers working in schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education in Tunceli province in the 2024-2025 academic year. The sample of the study consisted of 305 teachers selected by random sampling method. A 6-question personal information form and 'Sports Awareness Scale' were used as data collection tools. Licensed SPSS 26 package program was used to analyze the data obtained. Before starting the statistical analysis, normality distributions of the data were examined and it was seen that the data met the normality assumption. For this reason, independent sample t-test was used in the analysis of binary variables in the personal information form, and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used in the analysis of more than two variables. The significance level was based on p<0.05 in determining the differences between the groups. When the findings obtained are examined, it is seen that there is a statistically significant difference between the participants' gender, age, marital status, number of children and interest levels in sports and their sports awareness levels. When the average scores of the participants from the scale are examined, it is seen that males have higher levels of sports awareness than females, but the youngest age group and those with the oldest age, those with the least professional experience, those who are single or do not have children, and those who are both spectators and participants in sports have higher levels of sports awareness. As a result, when the average scores (x=109,08) of the participants from the scale are examined, it can be said that the teachers are 'aware' of their sports awareness levels. In this context, it can be said that necessary protective and developmental measures should be taken to protect the sports awareness levels of teachers and to develop new teachers in this regard.
