An investigation of the attitudes of teachers towards sports in terms of various variables (Bayburt province example)

We may show several attitudes towards the concept of sport by different means, which has an important place in human life and we encounter in almost any stages of life. In the education and training environment, which is in these stages, teachers appear as the visible face of sports. It can be said that teachers' attitudes towards sports could have an impact on positive or negative development of students' views on it. In this context, the aim of this research is to examine the teachers' attitudes towards sports, who are working in the city of Bayburt in terms of age, gender, year of employment, marital status, type and location of school, branch along with doing sports and active sports. The study group of the research consists of teachers working in Bayburt. The data collection tool of the research is personal information form and questionnaire form. In our work, the attitudes of 249 teachers working in Bayburt province in 2021 towards sports were studied. In this framework, "attitude scale towards sports" developed by Şentürk (2012) was utilized in order to assess the attitudes towards the sport. The data acquired within this framework was reported in accordance with the results of independent sample t-test, one-way anova, post-hoc tests, Pearson Correlation Analysis; which involve in IBM SPSS (Statistical PackageforSocialSciences) 26 programme. In the results of the study, it is observed that according to the gender variable male participants, according to age variable participants under the age of 30 and according to marital status variable single participants have higher attitudes towards sports. It is clearly observed that according to the variable of doing sports and active sports, the participants have even higher attitudes towards sports. Despite the fact that there seems to be no dramatic difference according to the variables of employment year, type and place of school, it has been observed that participants who have been working for under 5 years, in the villages or in high schools have higher attitudes towards sports.
