Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between teachers' coping ability with stress and their exhaustion who work in Vocational Secondary Schools in Ümraniye district of Istanbul. The study is limited with 150 teachers in 3 different Vocational Secondary Schools. In the second and third sections of the study a literature review has been done on stress and burnout syndrome. Definitions of stress and burnout, their sub factors, the methods of coping with stress and burnout are also included. In the fourth section, stress and burnout syndrome are investigated in terms of teaching profession. In the study, validity and reliability are used as means of data collecting and two different scales are used. The first one is Folkman and Lazarus's "Way of Coping Inventory", the second one is Maslach and Jackon's "Maslach's Burnout Scale". Sperman test is used to analyze the answers which are given to sub factors of both scales by averaging separately. In the thesis, the methods used in coping with stress are examined one by one and its relationship with the burnout syndrome is tried to be discovered. Key words: Teacher, Stress, Burnout Syndrome
