Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between basic beliefs, cognitive distortions and locus of control in individuals diagnosed with OCD. The study was carried out with participants diagnosed with OCD from the psychiatry out patient clinic of Izmir Bozyaka Training and Research Hospital and OCD support groups, between the ages of 18-65 and meeting the conditions of participation in the study. The data collection part of the study from the hospital was done face to face. Demographic data form, Rotter locus of control scale, thought traits scale, core beliefs scale, and yalebrown obsession-compulsion scale were used in the study. A total of 79 people, 49 women and 30 men, participated in the study. The obtained data were analyzed using SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) for Windows 25.0 program. According to the results of the correlation analysis; A positive significant correlation was found between the severity of OCD and the core belief scale score. There was a positive significant relationship between OCD severity and cognitive distortion types. There was no significant relationship between OCD severity and locus of control. In the relationship between cognitive distortion types and locus of control, a positive significant relationship was found between cognitive distortions of mind reading, labeling, overgeneralization, should-have statements, shrinking or ignoring the positive, and external locus of control. It was observed that there was a positive significant relationship between the core belief scale score and the external locus of control. The data obtained were discussed within the framework of literature and research.
