Effect of mistletoe ( Viscum album L. ) on some physical and mechanical properties in pinus sylvestris wood

SUMMARY In this study; some physical and mechanical properties of Pinus {Pinus sylvestris L.) wood were investigated, mat was parasited by Viscum album L. Test samples were obtained from Gümüşhane-Torul area. Then they were prepared according to standarts. In this study pysical properties of Pinus sylvestris wood were studied air and oven dry specific gravities, volume, density value and higyroscopicity. İn addition some mechanical properties of Pinus sylvestris wood were also investigated such as compression strength parallel to the grain, static bending strength, modulus of elasticity, impact strength, shear strength and values of Brinell- hardness were determined. According to the invention of this study, some proposal was given about usage of Pinus (Pinus sylvestris L.) wood parazited by mistletoe (Viscum album L.) According to obtained this results; between control and test specimens were different mechanical and physical properties significal level. The result of this study; It founded that mistletoe (Viscum album L.) effected the physical properties of Pinus sylvestris 's wood as to mechanical properties the compression strength parallel to grain, bending and impact strength have been effected considerable, shear and Brinell-hardness strength has been effected low.
