Analysis of the relationship between the values of school and school success

The purpose of this research is to analyze the relationship between the school values according to the views of the teachers and administrators who work in the schools.Research carried out by using the relational scanning model. In this context ?School Values Scale? developed and used by the researcher to determine the views of the administrators and teachers on school values.In terms of determining the school success, the students? "Placement Tests" and "Corporate Achievement Points" that schools gotten have been used as a criterion.The research takes places at the priamary schools of four central districts of Diyarbakır (Yenişehir, Kayapınar, Bağlar ve Sur) and includes principals, coprincipals and teachers of these schools during the 2010-2011 Academic year. There are a total of 84 primary schools in the four central districts of the province of Diyarbakır. In these schools 430 administrators, 4570 teachers and a total of 5000 people are on duty. Cluster sampling method was used in the study. Scale distrubuted to the 971 administrators and teachers, taken to the sample from 30 primary schools.Duly filled in and complete 821 scale were evaluated. In the scale there are five personal information and 40 close ended questions located. 40 close ended questions are formed with the options "never (1), rarely (2), partly (3), often (4), and all the time" (5) to determine the views of administirators and teachers about the school values. SPSS 16.0 package program was used for the analysis of the data obtained. When analyzing the data obtained from this study, descriptive statistical calculations firstly done. To determine whether there are differences among the teachers? views in terms of task type, gender, branch and tenure of office t-test ; to determine whether there are differences between the professional seniority and the schools? upper, middle and lower levels successes ANOVA test was conducted.At the result of ANOVA test in the cases of significant differences, Turkey HSD significance test was used to determine which group or groups are the source of difference. Moreover, the overall scale and relational dimensions of managerial and educational values in order to determine the basis of the relationship between the school and the academic success correlation values were calculated.As a result of the research the following key findings been reached; 1. A statistically significant difference in favor of the high success leveled schools was found on the views between the overall values of the school and relational, managerial, instructional dimensions of value among the administrators working at high, moderate and low success leveled schools. 2. A statistically significant difference in favor of the high success leveled schools was found on the views between the overall values of the school and relational, managerial, instructional dimensions of value among the teachers working at high, moderate and low success leveled schools. 3. In terms of administrators? and teachers? work type variable, a statistically significant difference in favor of the administrators was found on the views between the overall values of the school and relational, managerial, instructional dimensions of value. 4.In terms of gender variable of participants there was no significant difference found on views between the overall values of the school and relational, managerial, instructional dimensions of value. 5. In terms of branch variable of administrators and teachers there was no significant difference found on views between the overall values of the school and relational, managerial, instructional dimensions of value. 6. In terms of participants? tenure of office variable there was no significant difference found on the views between the overall values of the school and relational, managerial, instructional dimensions of value. 7. In terms of participants? professional seniority variable, a statistically significant difference in favor of the seniors was found on the views between the overall values of the school and relational, managerial, instructional dimensions of value. 8. The correlation between school performance and the participant?s views about the overall school values, including relational, managerial, instructional dimensions of values were positive and significantly high.
