Effects of school administrators' cultural leadership roles on organizational commitment level of teachers: Afyonkarahisar province sample

The purpose of this study is to examine ?The effects of school administrators? cultural leadership roles on organizational commitment level of teachers?. Furthermore, the effects of variables, such as gender, marital status, position at school, year of service, graduation, educational status and type of school institution, on participators were examined.The population and sample of the study is comprised of teachers, administrator assistants and administrators of schools in Afyonkarahisar. Out of 1250 questionnaires, which are delivered to 43 primary schools and 18 secondary schools, 846 questionnaires are collected and 777 ones are seen to be useful for the study. In the first part of the scale delivered to the participants personal demographic information is requested. In the second part of the scale ?Organizational Commitment Questionnaire? (Allen & Meyer, 1991) consisting 18 items whose reliability and validity tested beforehand is used. Moreover, in the third part of the scale ?Cultural Leadership Questionnaire? (Yıldırım, 2001) having 21 items whose reliability and validity tested beforehand is used. School administrators, school administrator assistants and teachers are asked to fill in the given questionnaires. A factor and reliability analysis is conducted for determining the structural validity of the surveys used in the study. Internal consistency coefficient value calculated for reliability study is found to be ? =0.93. The results of reliability studies show that surveys used for the study have reliability.At the end of the research, it can be concluded that the cultural leadership roles of school administrators are effective on the level of teachers? organizational commitment (p=.00).Keywords: Leadership, Cultural Leadership, School Administrator, Organization, Organizational Commitment.
