The effect of the body movement on knowledge of aspectuality and source memory in children (3 & 5-years-old)

In the present study, the effect of movement variable considered to be related to sensory-motor skills on the source memory which contains details of where, when, how, by whom (Lindsay, Johnson ve Kwon, 1991) and on knowledge of aspectuality, the ability to distinguish sensory resources such as sight, smell and touch, were investigated. The study was conducted with 67 children aged 36-48 and 60-72- months. DUBKA ( The Konowledge of aspectuality) task was implemented to measure the source memory and knowledge of aspectuality both in the inactive and in the active conditions. According to the results of the analysis of the order effect in the study, there is a significant effect on the performance of distinguishing knowledge of aspectuality for 5-year-olds children's participation to order effect on active and inactive conditions. According to the results of the study, there was no significant difference when the performances of the source memory of the 3 and 5 year old children were evaluated separately on the active and inactive conditions. When the age and movement variables were evaluated together, significant differences was found in countenance of 5 years according to the scores of distinguishing knowledge of aspectuality linkage among active and inactive conditions between 3 and 5 year old children's scores. Analysis of the difference between active and inactive knowledge of aspectuality scores of 3 and 5 year old children according to age groups, it was found that discriminating knowledge of aspectuality in inactive condition was in countenance for 5 years, and active condition for 3 years. However, there was no significant difference in the performance of the source memory in the active andinactive conditions of children aged 3 and 5 years. The results of the research were discussed in the light of embodied cognition, dynamic systems and ecological perception theory.
