Abstract (EN)
This study is about parental attitudes related to the mental problems of pre-school children in 4-6 age group. During the realization of the research, public schools in the province of Hatay were chosen as the sample of the research. The sample of this research is the students who are educated in the kindergartens belonging to the public schools. The problem of this search is defined that is there a relationship between the psychological problems in the pre-school age group of 4-6 years old children and the parental attitudes? The most important goal of this research is to find out whether the parental attitudes of pre-school children are related to children's mental problems. The model of the study was defined as the correlation model.Three scales were applied to teachers and parents in order to answer the research problem. These scales are Parent Attitude Scale, Conners Teacher Rating Scale and Conners Parent Rating Scale. As a result of applying factor analysis to the Parental Attitude Scale, democratic, permissive, protective and authoritarian parental attitudes appeared. Cognitive problems - inattention, hyperactivity, perfectionism and opposing sub-dimensions are emerging after the factor analysis of the Conners Teacher Assessment Scale with the aim of determining children's mental problems. Cognitive problems, hyperactivity, opposition, carelessness and social problems appeared after the factor analysis of the Conners Parental Assessment Scale with the aim of identifying children's mental problems. Hypotheses have been developed based on parental attitudes. Hypotheses were assessed for gender and age differences among students with lower levels of research. As a result of the research, 3 scales used in the research and sub dimensions of these scales are considered. When assessed in this context, it is seen that there is a difference according to gender variable in the research. At the same time, according to the analyzes performed according to the age variable, it is determined that there is a difference between the parent attitudes and the psychological problems of the children according to the age variable. Correlation analysis was used in the process of measuring the relationship between parental attitudes and mental problems of children. Findings suggest that there is a meaningful relationship between parental attitudes and children's mental problems. Various proposals have been developed for the academic and societal benefit of this research, which is prepared to reveal the effects of parental attitudes on children's mental problems.
