Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to examine preschool children in terms of behavioral inhibition, peer relations and parent emotional socialization behaviors, and to reveal whether parent emotion socialization behaviors differ in terms of behavioral inhibition temperament and peer relations of children. In the study in which the relational screening model was used, the sample group was determined according to the cluster sampling method. The sample of the study consisted of 335 children attending the official independent kindergartens and kindergartens affiliated to the Ministry of National Education in the Karaköprü, Haliliye and Eyyübiye districts of Şanlıurfa. As data collection tools in the research; The 'Behavioral Inhibition (Inhibition) Questionnaire Parent Form', 'The Scale for Coping with Children's Negative Emotions' and the 'Child Behavior Scale' were used. In the sub-dimensions of children's peer relations, non-social behavior towards their peers, fearful anxiety towards their peers, exclusion by their peers, prosocial behavior towards their peers, hyperactivity, and aggression towards their peers; Parental emotion socialization responses were examined in the sub-dimensions of supportive parent responses and non-supportive parent responses. According to the results obtained in the study, asocial behavior towards their peers and fearful-anxious behavior towards their peers differed significantly according to the age variable, and there was a significant relationship between behavioral inhibition of children and asocial behavior towards their peers, fearful-anxious towards their peers, hyperactivity, and aggression. It was observed that supportive parental behaviors and ostracized behaviors differed significantly. According to the hierarchical regression analysis results, it was determined that the age and behavioral inhibition of children significantly predicted the sub-dimension of asocial behavior towards their peers. It was determined that gender and behavioral inhibition of children significantly predicted the sub-dimension of being excluded by their peers. It was determined that children's chronological age, gender and behavioral inhibition significantly predicted the fearful-anxious sub-dimension by their peers. It was determined that gender and behavioral inhibition of children significantly predicted hyperactivity sub-dimension. It was determined that gender and behavioral inhibition of children significantly predicted aggression towards peers sub-dimension. When the moderator effect model analysis was examined, it was determined that supportive parent responses had a moderator effect on the relationship between behavioral inhibition and fearful anxiety towards peers. In the light of the findings obtained within the scope of the research, it is thought that more research on behavioral inhibition of preschool children will be beneficial in terms of identifying children with this temperament and applying appropriate intervention programs. In addition, it is considered important to conduct studies examining the factors related to behavioral inhibition of preschool children together in order to determine the factors affecting the anxiety of children with this temperament.
