Examine the relationship between peer relationships, emotional and behavioral problems and problem solving skills of preschoolers

The purpose of this research is to examine the relationship between emotional and behavioral problems, peer relationships and problem-solving skills of preschoolers. 153 childrens (85 girls and 65 boys) were assessed for this study who were 5 year-old in preschool continuing education. The research tools used for this study to collect data were a demographical information form, the preschool behavior scale, the problem-solving skills scale and Ladd and Profilet the child behavior scale. In the process of analysis of the data; The Spearman's Rank-Order Correlation test was done to preschool behavior scale , problem-solving skills scale, and the sub-dimensions of Ladd and Profilet the child behavior scale and the relationship between the sub-dimensions of Ladd and Profilet the child behavior scale scores; One-way Anova, T-test, Mann-Withney U and Kruskal Wallis-H tests were used to determine the relation between the gender of the child, education level of parents, family annual income and the sub-dimensions of Ladd and Profilet the child behavior scale, the preschool behavior, and problem-solving skills scores. At the end of the research, a meaningful connection was found between the preschool behavior, problem-solving skills, the sub-dimensions scores of Ladd and Profilet the child behavior scale, and the relationship between different sub-dimensions scores of Ladd and Profilet the child behavior scale. It was observed that there are clear differences between the preschool behavior, problem-solving skills, and the sub-dimensions scores of Ladd and Profilet the child behavior scale solely due to gender. While problem-solving skills reflected differences among children based on parent's education level and family annual income, the preschool behavior and the sub-dimensions scores of Ladd and Profilet the child behavior scale did not differ among children based on these criteria (parent's education level and family annual income). It can be told that emotional and behavioral problems, problem-solving skills, and peer relationships are in constant interaction, and any change in one of these areas will affect the other(s) negatively or positively.
