Burnout levels of preschool and primary school teachers

The main objective of this research is to examine the burnout levels? of the teachers who are one of the most important elements of Preschool and Primary Schools which has an important place in Turkish Education System, according to some variables (gender, age, marital status, number of children they have, seniority, school level)The working area constitutes 532 teachers in Menderes town of İzmir city, including 485 primary school teachers and 47 preschool teachers who work in educational institutions from 35 Primary Schools and 1 Preschool and 758 teachers in Gaziemir town of İzmir, including 695 primary school teachers and 63 preschool teachers who work in educational institutions from 17 Primary Schools and 1 Preschool.The sample also forms totally 567 teachers; 83 of them are working in preschools and 484 of them are working in primary schools."Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI)? developed by Maslach and Jackson (1981) was used for determining the burnout levels of teachers and the " Personal Information Form " developed by the researcher was used for personal informationThe aim of analyzing the data, frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, one-way ANOVA, multiple comparison test are used. As a result of One-Way ANOVA test, when a significant difference reveals, for finding the sources of this difference, if the variances are equal, the multiple comparison tests such as Scheffe and Tukey's, if the variances are not equal statistical techniques, such as Tamhane's T2 test are used.As a result of the analysis ,it is observed that the burnout levels of insensitivity dimension is according to the level of school, marital status and seniority variables; the burnout levels of personal accomplishment dimension is according to branch, age and the level of school, show differences.
