Analysis of relationship between children's toy preferences and development level

Abstract (EN)

In this study, it is aimed to investigate the relationship between toy preferences and development levels of 48-72 months old children attending preschool education institution. The study group of the research consists of purposefully chosen 10 children and randomly chosen 116 children studying in an independent kindergarten affiliated to the Ministry of National Education in Şehitkamil district center of Gaziantep province in 2019-2020 academic year. In the research, as data collection tools, "Personal Information Form", "Semi-structured Interview Form" which is constructed by the researcher, "Toy Preference Form" and "Development Monitoring Form and Development Determination Form" were used. In the study, mixed method, in which both quantitative and qualitative patterns were used, was used. The data obtained from the research was analyzed by using the SPSS 21.0 package and categorical content analysis. During the research process, qualitative data were analyzed with categorical content analysis and quantitative data were analyzed with nonparametricFriedman Test and parametricOne-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) Test. As a result of the research, a significant difference was found between the toy preferences and development levels of children. This situation proves that toys played by children have an effect on increase in development levels. Key Words: Development Level, Pre- School Education, Toys Preference
