Functionality of associations operating in the field of occupational health and safety

This thesis aims to examine the culture of occupational health and safety (OHS) in schools in Başiskele district of Kocaeli province in terms of safe behaviors. The study specifically analyzes the awareness levels of teachers working in vocational high schools and evaluates the current state of the OHS culture in schools. The importance of OHS in educational institutions, factors contributing to the establishment of a safety culture, and the impact of this culture on student and staff safety are addressed within the scope of this research. The study was conducted through surveys, and the collected data were analyzed using statistical methods. The findings highlight the necessity of improving OHS practices in schools and underscore the critical role of safety culture in promoting safe behaviors among staff. Based on the results, recommendations are provided for enhancing OHS culture, including areas such as education, risk management, and policy development. This thesis aims to make significant contributions to the improvement of OHS practices in educational institutions.
