Abstract (EN)

This study was carried out to examine the early literacy skills of preschool children with hearing loss in comparison with their hearing peers. The study group consisted of 26 children with hearing loss and a total of 52 children with normal hearing in the pre-school period in Van and Bitlis provinces. The study was carried out in a causal comparative model, one of the quantitative research methods. In the study, the early literacy skills of hearing impaired and hearing children were evaluated and the results were compared. Data were collected using the Early Literacy Test (EROT). Data were analyzed using the SPSS statistical program, Independent Sample T Test and Mann Whitney U Test. As a result of the analysis, children with hearing loss; It was concluded that they were weaker than their hearing peers in vocabulary, phonological awareness, letter knowledge and listening comprehension skills, and there was a significant difference between the groups. When the EROT subtests were examined, it was seen that there was no significant difference between the groups only in throwing the first sound of words and throwing the last sound of words.
