Abstract (EN)

Death is an occurrence that an individual cannot experience throughout their lifetime. Therefore, humans have been curious about death throughout history. Philosophy, psychology, and theology have delved into the subject of death, and many words have been spoken on this matter. However, death is still perceived as a mystery for humans. Although death, existing alongside life, offers the most crucial lesson to teach the meaning and value of life, accepting death is one of the most challenging situations for an individual. Faced with such challenging situations, individuals often cannot overcome them on their own. In such cases, they may need assistance in line with their religious beliefs and spiritual values. Pastoral care and counselling are branches of knowledge that can provide the support individuals need. In difficult life situations, such as death, spiritual counselors, who can be present for the individual, provide assistance and guidance to the dying person and their loved ones, offering the needed support in accordance with their religious and spiritual values. Spiritual counselors offer professional support to individuals in their time of need. While guiding individuals who have lost a loved one, spiritual counselors enhance coping skills and provide support for individuals to realize their potential. In the grieving process, spiritual counselors guide individuals and help them cope. By guiding individuals who fear death, they help them understand the concept of death and accompany them in discovering the true meaning of death.
