Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to examine the validity and reliability of the Predictive Cluttering Inventory-R (PCI-r) and Fluency Assessment Battery (FAB) in Turkish. For this purpose, the non-fluent group (n=60) and fluent controls (n=60) between 6-55 age were reached. The non-fluent group was perceptually evaluated by the two SLPs and divided into three groups as people with cluttering (PWC), people with cluttering and stuttering (PWCS) and people with stuttering (PWS). According to the findings obtained from the study, the agreement between the two SLPs is at an acceptable level. The exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis results showed that the PCI-r supports a single factor with the first 10 items. PCI-r can differentiate PWC and PWCS groups from PWS and controls, however, it cannot distinguish between PWC and PWCS. The results of FAB demonstrated that PWC had a high percentages of normal disfluencies, mean articulatory rate and rate varibility. There is not oral-motor coordination problems in PWC. PWCS group, on the other hand, displayed normal disfluencies at low ratios but had a high ratio of oral-motor problems and had a high speaking rate. The results of internal consistency, test-retest and inter-rater reliability of both PCI-r and FAB support that both assessment tools are valid and reliable tests that can be used as clinical tools which gather information, predict and provide guidance about cluttering symptoms in the individual.
