Abstract (EN)

Anxiety is also explained as a feeling of tension of unknown origin, which usually arises with the thought that something bad will happen. Outbursts of anger, fear of dying and going crazy, palpitations, difficulty in breathing, and digestive problems are the elements in the expression of anxiety. A person's level of anxiety depends on situational stimuli, and one's response is variable depending on the situation. Depression is expressed as depression, mental and physical devotion, depression, and decreased activities related to life. It is a mood disorder that occurs at any stage of life. Symptoms such as stagnation, difficulty in communicating, anxiety, anger, difficulty in making decisions, feeling worthless, suicidal ideation, inability to fall asleep or waking up frequently can be seen in depression. The aim of this study is to reveal the anxiety and death anxiety levels of individuals working in the oncology unit. For this purpose, the sample of the study consists of 80 individuals working in the oncology unit, including nurses, doctors, desk workers and patient representatives. Personal Information Form, Thorson-Powell Death Anxiety Scale, Maslach Burnout Scale, Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) and Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) were used to obtain data about the participants. The analysis of the data was done with the help of SPSS 25.0 package program. 60% of the participants are women and 40% are men, 20% are doctors and 53.8% are nurses. The average age of the participants is 39.31 ± 12.62. 73.8% of the participants have been fond of their profession and 72.5% of the unit they work in. 53.8% of the participants stated that they are insensitive to death. It was found that 35% of the participants regard death as natural and 32.5% feel fear and sadness. In our study, as the death anxiety levels increase/decrease, the depersonalization levels decrease/increase accordingly. Being insensitive to death decreases death anxiety in participants. A direct proportion was found between emotional exhaustion and depression levels. A moderate positive relationship was found between emotional exhaustion and anxiety levels in the participants. In the study, a strong relationship was found between anxiety and depression.
