Abstract (EN)
Aim: This study was conducted to determine the effect of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy on self-compassion, anger control, and suicidal ideation in individuals with Opioid Use Disorder. Materials and Method: The study was conducted using a single-blind, pre-test-post-test control group randomized controlled experimental design and took place at the Turgut Özal Medical Center Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic between October 2024 and January 2026. The sample of the study consisted of a total of 60 individuals diagnosed with opioid use disorder, and participants were assigned to the experimental (n=30) and control (n=30) groups using the randomization method. Data were collected using the Descriptive Characteristics Form, Controlled Anger Scale, Self-Compassion Scale Short Form, and Suicidal Ideation Scale. In addition to routine treatment, the experimental group received the MBCT program consisting of a total of eight sessions, two sessions per week for four weeks, while only routine treatment was maintained in the control group. SPSS 25.0 program was used in the analysis of the data; descriptive statistics, chi-square test, dependent groups t-test, and ANCOVA analyses were performed. Results: The results of the study demonstrated that, in the experimental group, scores on the Self-Compassion Scale increased significantly, scores on the Controlled Anger Scale increased, and scores on the Suicidal Ideation Scale decreased significantly (p < 0.05). In the control group, no statistically significant differences were found between pre-test and post-test scores on the Controlled Anger Scale, Self-Compassion Scale, or Suicidal Ideation Scale (p > 0.05). Conclusion: It was determined that MBCT increased self-compassion, improved anger control, and reduced suicidal ideation in individuals with opioid use disorder. Accordingly, it was concluded that implementing psychosocial interventions in addition to pharmacological approaches may be beneficial in the treatment of opioid use disorder.
